A 3-mile stretch of southbound Loop 101 between Via de Ventura and Chaparral Road will narrow to one lane from 4 a.m. Saturday until 6 p.m. Sunday.
If this sounds familiar, the northbound lanes in the same stretch were restricted last weekend.
The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends that motorists use alternate routes during work on Scottsdale's first carpool lanes.
Crews will use the restriction to put concrete barriers in the center of the freeway and create a work zone for the high-occupancy-vehicle lanes.
The $47.4 million project is adding 15 miles of carpool lanes to Loop 101 between Loop 202 and the Pima Road/Princess Drive exit.
The project should be done by 2009.
Crews plan to pour concrete for the lanes between the 202 and Chaparral Road by April 1, ADOT spokeswoman Laura Douglas said.
