New pulley!!!

So I bought one of the 15% pulleys from Marshall (Global Motorwerks) and installed it Saturday night with a buddy. It took about 3.5 hours. Install went real smoothly except for a brittle coolant T for the overflow tank that crumbled. Being that all the stores were closed we cut some pipe and improvised until I could fix it on Sunday. I also found that my passenger motor mount is torn which explains the clunking I've been trying to track down. The pulley is great. I think if I had to do it again I could knock it out in 1.5 hours if there weren't any surprises. The ALTA pulley removal tool worked great. Just thought I'd share my experience.

On another note, is anyone in the area running a water/meth set up?

congrats on the pulley...I too am contemplating water/meth injection...I have been looking at the trunk mount cooling mist system. NAM has lots of info and install pics.

My wife and I also bought one of his pulleys!! I have not had a chance to install it. I also think we are going to get the exhaust system that you also got(what a great deal). If they could do the pulley I would just have them do it.

I can't reply to your PM so I'll answer it here... To be honest, I haven't heard any other exhausts on the MINI so I can't compare it to others. The power feels good, I haven't had my butt dyno calibrated in a while though. Cruising around its not too loud but when you get on it, it sounds great. There is a bit of drone right around 3k RPMS, so in 6th gear, its right at cruising speed (70mph). If you're on a flat road or downhill its not bad at all. If you're going up to the high country, it can get a bit buzzy. I haven't looked underneath yet to see if it might be hitting a heat shield. Mainly because its too hot out and its not that loud so I don't think that's the cause, but you never know. Like you, I figured I couldn't go wrong because of the price. Its built well and if I couldn't stand it, I could sell it and get something else. So far, I like it a lot. I posted some sound clips in my thread about it, I don't know if you heard them or not. If you weren't in Tucson I'd be happy to give you a ride in it. If you're up in Phoenix, let me know and I'll take you for a cruise, but i'd jump on the deal, I don't know how many they have left at this point...

Oh and get that pulley installed!!! Then get a set of colder plugs :D

Is Johnny one of the techs there? Joel said the guys would whine about installing the pulley, but they probably would do it for about $100. Maybe I'll just wait and get it done when enough people in Tucson want to have a pulley party!!
Thanks for the feedback. I heard the youtube clips but it is hard to compare it to something else.
Thanks again,
George

Yeah Johnny is one of the techs. tell them to buy an alta pulley removal tool and they'll never **(I won't use this word this is a family site)** about it again. Myself and a friend did my pulley and it worked flawlessly. Now that I've done it, I could probably do it again in an hour or so.
