We put 1,149 miles on the classic Mini driving to San Diego for the British Car Days event at Liberty Station Naval Training Center. We took 5 days for travel and playtime in SoCal which was not enough for all the things we wanted to do. At the show there were more than 300 entries, the largest show we have ever entered. There were MINIs and Minis competing in 4 different categories. The featured Mark was the MGB, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

The awards ceremony was a typical concourse style affair with 1st place winners driving their cars up to the awards stand and the MC interviewing each owner. Very classy. They had 50 student hosts who earned community service credits for helping with the ballot tabulation and the info booth. There was a Bag Pipe Band, a lunch truck called God Save the Cuisine and 40 vendor booths. I picked up a Mr Bean diecast Mini model. This was a superbly organized event!

The location was ideal with acres of manicured lawn for the display. Temperatures where in the low 70's, coooool! Dozens of trendy eateries within walking distance, we dined at Tin Fish and 50/50 which features a one pound burger that is half ground bacon and half ground beef. Yum! If you love British automobiles, I recommend everyone mark your calendar for next year's event. This would make a great club road trip.

We won 1st in Class, Mini, short wheelbase, internal hinges. We were totally surprised!
