Holiday Pet Photos with Santa - AZGRC Fund Raiser

Postby danjmcs » Sun Nov 23, 2008 4:41 pm

Once again, the Arizona Golden Retriever Connection is having Holiday Pet Photos with Santa at various locations around the valley. This is the group that found us our golden boys, Chance and Cody.

Yours truly will be the Santa on the 29th and 30th of November, from 10AM to 3PM, at the Stock Shop on 67th Ave and Thunderbird. I did it last year and had a really fun day, and this year I'll be doing two days.

For $25 you will receive (2) 4X6 Prints & a CD with photos from your photo session. All proceeds benefit homeless & abandoned Golden Retrievers via the AZGRC. All pets and breeds are welcome!

Complete information is at the link below, as well as other locations and dates around the valley, if the date and location above doesn't work for you.

Awww he's so cute! C:)

Sorry Dan, the girls have turkey face (too much turkey and gravy in their food which got in their facial hair) and they need to be groomed badly or I would have brought them in for pics! Were you Santa? C;)

I can't put it any better than Marilyn did... crappy start to 2009 all around.

We had to have our younger dog, Chance (pictured on the right in the first photo of the thread), put down this morning.

I went to bed and we heard him whimpering so Dan went to help him. He was trying to come in the dog door. So he brought him in and we both laid down with him on the floor in the living room. We talked about it a bit and decided to take him to the emergency vet that is just a couple of miles from us and have it done before Nana and Cody woke up. It was killing me all day yesterday to watch him struggle to move around and I kept helping him move. His legs just wouldn't stay under him. Mostly, I just kept him near me. Dan really couldn't take watching him struggle. He would have been four on March 2nd.

He was himself to the end though, a typical Golden. Interested in everyone and everything. He even enjoyed the ride on the gurney. He gave me kisses when we were saying goodbye to him. We held him and the vet slowly gave him the injection. He died about 6:15 am this morning. His legs didn't work and his breathing was labored, but otherwise he was perfectly normal and a Golden to the last. This was a particularly virulent cancer, fast-growing, uncontrollable. It was in his sweat glands and since he never had an ounce of spare fat on him, they knew immediately that surgery was out of the question. It happened very quickly. The tumor first showed up the weekend before Christmas. It was diagnosed on January 14th, the same day that Dan's dad died. He is being cremated. He was a wonderful dog and while cancer may have killed him, it didn't change him one bit.

The only thing I don't like about dogs is that they don't live long enough.

It sucks.

Sorry.... OG (the pugly boyfriend) and I will miss this year.... Just took him to Jeanette at the Dogwash for a spa treatment yesterday... he smells like spiced apples now (instead of dirty dog!) and his fur is soooo soft....sorry I won't get pictures of him at his most handsome!

Merry Christmas to everyone! C:D
