With a voice like that, it amazes me that Mike Pritzl's band, The Violet Burning, didn't get more popular than it did.

Yep, good voice for sure. Being popular is always a trade off over control these days, so I'd guess some of that is by design. They did play a few dates in 2007, but nothing since August on the tour calendar. Some of their stuff reminds me of early Kings X/Ty Tabor.
