Ah radar detectors - I bought a used one at Park 'n Swap many years ago and attached it to the handlebars of my BMW. First time it went off was in Kayenta. Kept going off near Circle K hot dog microwave ovens. Some help there, eh? Don't buy used, don't buy cheap, unless you're afraid of Circle K hot dogs.

Valentine One...and hardlining is easy if you buy it from them. You can get an adaptor for 39.95. I also bought a sub-screen...not sure on the price but I bought my valentine 5 years ago with all the accessories. In the mini, I hide the detector on the passenger side of the rear-view and hardlined to accessory...then I pulled out the 'useless' clock and mounted my subscreen in there. Nicely hidden...now I must kill you all for telling you my secrets. :vader:

Cruise Control keeps the speed from creeping up, which as we all know is easy in a MINI.

Yep, very good tip. I use it religiously on the longer road trips to SoCal and such to keep the speed reasonable.

desert hills? lol... where is that? The cameras are in my neck of the woods in Scottsdale on the 101 from 90th Pima Exit to the south to the Scottsdale Rd exit to the north. THose are easy to sail past....

It is the vans that move around you gotta watch out for! :-)

Scottsdale has photo radar on city streets also. A friend of ours just got a ticket $230, it wasn't from one of the vans. I just don't speed much anymore, saves $ on fuel.

Speaking of saving on fuel. I've been trying to see just how good the gas milage can get. So far I've been able to extract 31 MPG at an adverage speed of 28mph not bad, and fillups are still under $60 and last 3 weeks!!

Once you use the directional arrows on a Valentine 1, you will never want to use anything else. I don't do any interstate driving without it. It has paid for itself many times over! Sure the Escort might have some better features, but once its beeping, its just like any other detector and you have no idea if the cop is behind you or what, that drives me crazy.

Oh, and cops could care less if you have one...I've been pulled over for other things and they have surely seen it, they don't even look at it.

Plus if you hardwire it and place it up by your rear view mirror, it's really out of sight.
