Where do you get a replacement Key Fob?
Does MNS have to program it?

Because of the way the Mini keys are cut, I believe you can only go through the dealer. I know the BMW/Mercedes keys are the same way, should come with a complete FOB, etc.

The programming is easy. Can be done at the dealer or yourself. There's an article in our Tech area on how to do it:

I may be way off on this.. I havnt tried, and am going on a 5 year ago conversaion. I thought when our cars are build there are like 5 keys made. At the time of delivery, we get 2 of them. The other 3 are kept at the factory ( or maybe the US parts distribution center in NJ ). If you need one it can be sent over night. Then there are only 2 left.. after all keys have been used ( lost ) the whole computer would have to be redone. Am I just dreaming this, or was that what I was told years ago.. I have not known of any one who has ever asked the dealer.

Get a blank key here

There is a locksmith in Mesa that has a laser cutter that can cut the key, but I think they need an origional to copy from. Can't remember their name right now but IIRC they're on southern.

I've heard/read somewhere in the range of $250-300..
Approx $95 to program the key and around $180 for the key itself.

Unless things have changed, you will have to get the key ordered and then go to the dealer to have them actually program the key for you.

I haven't known anyone that has had to get a key replacement yet, but I was reading this on NAM just the other day.

Good luck!

One of my keys was stolen with my purse about 9 months ago. MNS quoted me $300 to replace it... so I've been with only 1 key since

:omg
Eek!! That's high.... I think I'll stick with the one fob I have and try to put the other one back together. It'll look like Franken-fob, but better than schucking out 300 bucks.
