Great pics Carey!

We took an extra day and made it in about 7:30 tonight, Monday.

Nearly 3,000 miles in 11 days between MTTS-LA and MITM, whew! hehe.

Thanks for the kind words about the pics, everyone.

Yeah, we left Sunday morning at 7am (Colorado time) and arrived at 5:30p Arizona time. Still feeling it today, though. A total of 1840 miles since we left house (according to the GPS)

Trying to find an address for Copper Mountain anywhere on the web before we left and came up with nothing other then driving directions, but no physical address. For this reason I marked the latitude and longitude of the main hotel registration lobby so anyone who wants to have their GPS guide them right to the front door need only enter these latitude and longitude coordinates:

N39 degrees 30.106'
W106 degress 09.058'

From my place in Glendale, it shows a distance of 528.7 miles

As for an actual address, we discovered it already in the GPS (go figure) as 209 Ten Mile Circle, Frisco, CO 80443.

Good info to have for next year.

Fuel/Mileage history:

08/06/08
290.6 miles
8.235 gallons to fill-up
35.312 mpg

08/07/08
235.4 miles
6.440 gallons to fill-up
36.506 mpg

08/08/08
359.3 miles
8.204 gallons to fill-up
43.795 mpg

08/10/08
277.4 miles
7.163 gallons to fill-up
38.726 mpg

08/10/08
399.9 miles
11.552 gallons to fill-up
34.627 mpg

Still have gas in the tank, so I haven't calculated the last leg of the trip, but thats a good general idea. I can't complain and I've never seen more than 36 mpg before now in my JustaCoop. Car seems to really like the higher altitude or something.

We are still on the road. Been to Denver, Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs, Canon City, crossed the Royal Gorge by gondola, and had dinner at Garlic Mike's in Gunnison.

Last night we saw The Dark Night in Crested Butte. Today, we go onto Ouray, Silverton and Durango. We wrap up the trip with a visit to Mesa Verde Nat'l and the Petrified Forest.

Great time at MITM, although it had a different atmosphere this year. I got a lead on a classic, so we may have to come back in a few weeks.

Weather has been perfect since we left Copper Mtn, go figure. We'll post some pics when we get back to Tucson.

Crested Butte, CO is my old snowboarding stomping ground!! Mark and I drove West into Utah then SB through Moab, Kayenta and then continued South into Phoenix. We definately will be checking out the Monument Valley/Moab area next year if we have enough time to fit Copper into our schedules.

Was cold up there! We went up for lunch - took two bites of our food and they told us we had to get back on the ski lift or WALK down because they were going to shut it down because a storm was coming! We scarfed the food, were the last ones on the lift and no sooner did we make it to the bottom and they started letting people back on! Go figure... the storm never panned out!

Heather rocking out at the Guitar Hero competition!

She made it to the finals! I'm glad she didn't win - the prize was a bike - how the heck would we have got it home??
