New MINI for xmas

Postby Delys » Tue Jan 20, 2009 4:09 am

Hi,

Just got a Cabrio for Xmas and I was wondering if anybody had a recommendation for cleaner for the top? I figured I would ask the pro's. I would appreciate any help. Just joined the club, looking forward to meeting you all. :D

Welcome!

We have a few cabrio owners and former owners that I'm sure can chime in with some cleaning tips!

Welcome...
I have an 06 cabrio....I stick STRICTLY to only using water on my top..
I also try not to wash/rinse it that often anyway...I dont want it to show wear..or fray..
SO refrain from scrubbing with anything other then finger nail or finger, only doing so after applying water. If its a bird "doo" its gonna be some work...and dont rub towel to dry either.. I will flip the towel over top so it lays flat then slowly run hand over it pressing down,,all the water will be pulled into towel.....
NOW saying all that I'd show you the great condition the top is in but isnt it required to stay down on a Mini?!

Welcome....

First advise.. stay away from automatic car washes..
As for the top, while hand washing the car, you can mix Woollite in a spay bottle with 50% water, and spray on top to loosen the dirt.. dont leave on for too long especially in direct sunlight so it doent dry.. then rinse off...no need to scrub

Hey, we have a Liquid Yellow Convertible and we just hand wash the MINI at Dolphin Car Wash. We have only gone through the automatic ONCE because we were in a rush to get to a DMC event. ;) We just let it dry itself off on our way home. ONLY driving with the top up. ALSO, if you EVER see anybody with their MINI top up, call this hotline: 1-888-DO-NOT-CLOSE... :) Call it. It's pretty dang funny! :D Congratz and welcome to the club! It's awesome!

P.S. Adrienne can tell you ALL about washing your top! ;) Huh, AJ?
