** Special High Powered Radio Rental or Purchase Info **

FYI, Nate/JCWORKS works in the commercial mobile radio industry and has made some higher powered, longer range, programmable Motorola radios available to club members for purchase, or for rental for AMVIV.
Motorola BPR40 - UHF: 450 - 470 MHz

The rental radios will be $30 for the AMVIV long weekend and $150 to purchase a new radio if you want one of your own.

Both the new and rental radios will come custom programmed to work with the typical DMC/Mini club channels. Meaning, FRS Radio Channel 7, SubChannel 21, as well as Channel 8, SubChannel 21.

The 8/21 channel is for us to use as an option in the case of larger Mini events where the 7/21 might have too much cross chatter. This different channel is something we will announce in advance or at the drivers meeting, if we are using it for an event. The radios from Nate will also have 4 private channels that will be programmed only for the DMC rental or new radios.

The radios come with a battery and rapid 30 minute chargers and can be picked up at Nates office. Rentals will need to be prepaid at the time of pick-up, and obviously new radios paid in full.

I will bring mine to the Car Show next weekend if you want to see what they look like, but pretty straight forward, and a GREAT deal for purchasing one new and having it all programmed and ready to use. The rental is a good deal if you want to see how they work before buying too.

THANKS NATE!

For those of you who are staying in the Palace Station, you can book ONLINE today direct with Palace Station for 50% off. After the group rate expired, the prices dramatically dropped. You can even find it cheaper on Expedia and Travelocity. I am telling everyone this because it makes me mad that the hotel took advantage of our event and jacked the prices up!!!! [-(

Thanks for letting me vent, I feel much better now! :D    Plus now I actually get to go for sure because it is now affordable! See you all there!

In defense of the hotel, this block rate for the event was agreed on months ago as part of their contract with the AMVIV folks. You can't really expect them to just slide the rate scale around for a group rate based on how the economy/market is doing over such a wide period of time. Having had to negotiate these myself, it's just the nature of the business to drop the prices to fill up the hotel as much as they can. Sometimes the block rate swings in your favor, other times not.

But for sure, the rates are WAY down, especially for the week day rates. We re-booked a Premium Tower Room at the new rates for Thurs-Mon for under $300.

If you go to www.palacestation.com and the "Book Now" link, put in your dates to check rates, then on the next page click on the "$ PACKAGES" link underneath where the rates are shown for the various room types. That will let you re-rate again at the 50% off Internet Only price.

The links to cancel a previous reservation are also on that same page, if you feel so inclined.

Thanks AJ!

Nice bump in registrations, 25 in the last 5 days. Looks like those cheaper hotel prices will get a few more Mini owners to Vegas :)

Banquet/dinner tickets (though someone usually ends up having one for sale), event swag/t-shirts, etc... see below about final registration :)

This is the main reason I posted the comment about cheaper rates. I think it will allow more people to come!

Thanks Dan for keeping us posted. :D
