MM - Mt. Graham Run September 20-21

Postby AKA IAN » Thu Aug 28, 2014 3:02 am

Mt. Graham run is almost here. This is usually a one-day run up the mountain but popular demand was for another full weekend adventure. You can still spend just the day with us but then you'll miss out on a lot more fun.

We'll be departing from Beyond Bread 6260 E. Speedway at Wilmot at 9am Saturday September 20. Arrive early for breakfast and pick up some bread or a sandwich for lunch also.

Several MINIs said they wanted to camp out so lodging choices are Roper State Park for those really adventuresome souls and for those who prefer motel life we'll be at the Best Western. If you choose to camp out let us know ASAP so reservations can be made at the campground for adjoining sites. Motel reservations should also be made ASAP in case it's a busy visitor's weekend at the prison.

Best Western Desert Inn
1391 W. Thatcher Blvd room rates start at $76.

There are a few of us that have reserved our camp sites at Roper Lake. We are on the Hacienda Loop (sites 40 and 44 so far) this is near the showers and fairly close to the hot tub area. I hope the hot tub renovation is finished by the time we go. :D

It's almost time to conquer Mt. Graham.

**Departure location has been changed to Omar's Hi-Way Chef TTT truck stop on I-10 at the Craycroft exit. Departure time will be 9:15 am.

We'll be lunching at the picnic grounds on the mountain so bring a lunch, any snacks you need to survive and plenty of liquids. There are tables at the picnic area but you might also want to bring a folding chair.

Dinner reservations have been made at La Paloma in Safford for 6:45 pm which gives us plenty of time to check into our lodgings, be it motel or campground.

Don't forget to bring your two-way radios (and charger). We use Channel 7 and sub-channel 21. Now is a great time to purchase a radio set if you don't have one.

In order to prepare the Motoring Partners information sheet please respond to madmenoftucson@gmail.com with the following information:

Your name and the name of your co-pilot if any.
Cell phone # of pilot and co-pilot and if you text or not.
Year, model, colour and name (if any) of your MINI.

This information sheet is distributed to all attendees so you have no excuse for not knowing who's ahead of you or behind you.
