M.A.D.M.E.N ODOMETER-Where we went in October
October was busy as we converged on MINI of Tucson for the first MINIs and Munchkins. MINIs, coffee, conversation and those little delicious morsels of sweet dough gave us energy for the rest of the day. Next stop was U Like Asian Buffet for our 2014 planning meeting. The turnout and participation was tremendous. Everyone came with great ideas and suggestions to make 2014 an active year.
We headed south (South Tucson) this month for My MINI Has the Munchies at Guillermo’s Double L on the 10th of October.
October 12th found us at MINI of Tucson to register for a Rally to Mussleman Honda Circuit and do some racing in go karts courtesy of MINI of Tucson. We also got to play on the “slick track”. A great time was had by all, and MINI of Tucson in true M.A.D.M.E.N fashion made sure we had some dining to go along with our motoring.
The Haunted Prescott weekend began with goody-filled decorated pumpkins being handed out before we headed up to Prescott on the back road through Wickenburg, then up Highway 89.
We stopped in Yarnell for sightseeing, shopping and a little lunch then hit the road again for some fabulous twisty road and scenery. We dined at Prescott Brewing Company before taking the tour and getting the lowdown on the ghostly goings on in town. The majority of us stayed at a motel out in the pines but 2 brave couples each stayed in a different historic hotel in town, both which had their own haunted past. New members from Prescott also joined us for dinner and the tour.
Sunday we went in search of Big Nose Kate’s grave site at the Pioneer Cemetery and left a message in her remembrance book. We lunched at the PBC again to try more of the menu (and have another beer). The attractions on Whiskey Row still beckoned to some, but others hit the road for home. Highway 89 down the mountain was even better than the previous day. Another great MADMEN adventure. One couple used this as a launching point for a chance to add 3500 miles of back road motoring in 10 days to the log book.
Last Saturday Breakfast at Hot Rods Old Vail was very well attended; our table was set for 26. The weather was perfect for the drive to Tombstone where we, of course, did window shopping and visited.
