Want to be in a parade of Minis? We ARE signing up for The Lost Dutchmans Parade in Apache Junction. The Parade is just one of the many events going on that weekend as part of Lost Dutchmans Days. http://www.lostdutchmandays.org/ MISSION: TO PUT SMILES ON KIDS FACES.

The parade takes place on Saturday, February 23rd at 9AM, with check-in required prior to that. So we would need cars there around 7:30 or 8 at the latest. The route starts at the intersection of Apache Trail & Phelps Drive and will proceed west on Apache Trail to Ironwood, turn and return east on Apache Trail to starting point.

Since this is an event named after a gold mine(r), we were hoping to have as many of our Gold Minis up front (No pressure Alma, Dan M. and Dee). But we really just want as many Minis as possible, but I need to find out how many can really attend the event. We need an accurate count as we have to provide them with the approximate length of our group.

As far as the time commitment for the day, I'm guessing it will take a couple hours by the time we stage, slowly drive the course, and then finish up in Apache Junction.

We have to submit our application no later than February 7th, so if you would like to take part in this event, please email me at dan@coopahs.com or reply here in this thread.

This was a great idea brought up by The Boldts, who live in the AJ area, and have attended this event in past years.

Dave? Care to chime in on what you've seen at this event in the past?

For those that want too, after the parade, we'll head out the Apache Trail to Canyon Lake and Tortilla Flats, and take the road all the way to the end where it turns to dirt, for what has become an annual photo-op. Fun road, and a great way to finish off the morning/afternoon!

WE ARE FULL AS OF 2/7/08

Well, if you'll be working, and NGGT will just be parked... I'm sure you can just leave the keys somewhere for parade use!

All,
We generally attend most of the AJ parades as our kids are in the school music programs and they generally march in all of them.

The Lost Dutchman Days Parade is probably the largest of all the parades held in AJ as the SnowBird population is in full force at this time of year.

Generally there are quite a few automotive entries. We have seen Harley Clubs, Ferrari Clubs, Corvette Clubs, Classic Muscle car entries, Kit car entries, Old Ford model T's and A's :D

You get the picture... but there has never been a mini in the parade in the 6 years we have attended.

The drivers all look proud and happy to be participating and since joining the DMC I always wanted to see if there was interest. It makes for a nice morning and it's a great small town feel!
The Harley clubs always seem to have the most drivers/riders. Wouldn't it be nice to be the largest entry? So, email Dan and let him no your interested and come on out!

Sounds fun and you all have enough time to do something great with the cars. Maybe a flag of some sort for all who are in the parade...??

the more it think of this, I think its a great thing to do.. I hope we get a huge turnout. What a great way to promote the club, and MINIs...

Yep, agreed. We have 12 Minis RSVPed so far. We'll be side by side, two lines wide, so we need more Minis!
